Looks though that's not the official software. Looks more like a general BIOS flashing util (current screen isn't showing a Flash Rom option, so maybe it's just a management software?)

Anyway, here are Lenovo's instructions. Dead easy, just download and run the installer or get the app from the Windows App Store Thing That I Never Used... Anyway, should be simple and painless and you won't have to update again. The update I linked to previously is the final update and it's years old. Here's the HowTo:

Don't worry, their new installer actually walks you through it. Check out the video, you'll see. It's not like flashing a Famicom cartridge with a modded ROM, I promise.

Then just run it. The installer should tell you what to do. Post a screen shot when you run the .exe.

Okay, that looks like the management tool, not the update. Here:

- Download this link: https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/thinkcentre_bios/9hj958usa.iso

- Burn it to a CD/DVD or a flashdrive (if you have access to a UNIX-alike machine, you can use the dd command or you can use Rufus, https://rufus.ie/en/, in Windows)

- Put/leave the disk you wrote the ISO to in your PC and reboot. Upon rebooting, choose to boot from the disk.

- Follow the instructions on screen. I suggest you read Lenovo's help guide, too: https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/thinkcentre_bios/9hj958usa.txt

- If you get confused, use your phone and take a screenshot and post it here. I hope this solves your problem

Did you actually select to boot from CD in the BIOS menu? What error message do you get?

just finished installing ubuntu 20.04 i think (in uefi)... and when it had to restart.... it went straight to windows

At that point i would say to use gParted to see partitions and that ubuntu is on Disk. There's a differenece between not being to install and not being able to boot Linux if it IS installed.

If i had your PC i would then go for rEFInd ont oa usb , boot from it and see if i could get ubuntu up. I've tested rEFInd on both Windows 10 and Slackware Linux; on both occasions it gave we choices and found all OS on PC hd.

Also i wondering if this thread might be of use; if its the case that ubuntu installed, since you didn't say on thos pos tthat there were any errors.

interresting turn of events... windows 10 got corrupted so im 100% on linux now so its always legacy... 80% of my problems are solved... now if i can only get eve online to work...
