Linux on memory stick to plug in and work on both Mac and PC USB ports

In addition to a yes/no answer to the question in the title, I would appreciate advice as to how to format the memory stick. E.g. will a Mac USB read a memory stick formated ext4? Thanks.

For a memory stick you can just use fat or vfat, according to the apple documentation macos supports those. Also looks like you can use fuse to mount other none native macos filesystems.
