Why so few Linux flavors on the "Download Linux" page?

If you would like more, you can find hundreds at distrowatch.com :)

The Boss put up most of those just after a major software revision to the site in 2017.

I added a couple more and updated some links a couple of years ago.

We don't have the time to do more.

Cheers

On the "Download Linux", at the moment, the debian link is to "Page not found".
To download debian, one can go here: https://www.debian.org/distrib/

For the centos link on that page, it takes one to an archive for centos releases which have been discontinued.

As @wizardfromoz mentioned, distrowatch is probably the site referencing the greatest number of linux distros. It also includes a page on discontinued distros which are of historical interest here:

There's also a list of distros not yet on the main lists which they call the "waiting list" which includes quite a few less well-known distros:

Ta for that info on the Downloads page @osprey , I'll look into that on the weekend. :)

I've always found it best to go to the Linux distro of choice website to download.

Just my opinion.

1. Updated the Debian link
2. Updated the CentOS link

However with CentOS, I note

Upcoming EOL Dates

CentOS Stream 8 end of builds is May 31, 2024. CentOS Linux 7 end of life is June 30, 2024. Read the information on upgrade and migration options.

... and then it goes to an RHEL 9 link below that.

I am aware of the phasing out of CentOS over the last couple of years. Maybe Maarten @f33dm3bits or other can tell me if there is a more appropriate link to go to, or if it is all closed down now, we'll replace that entry with another distro.

TIA and

The CentOS link is fine. The thing with CentOS is they went a different direction from what they originally were, from RHEL clone to up stream RHEL. That is why a lot of people have been moving to either Rocky Linux or Alma Linux. So they went from being CentOS to being CentOS Stream, but CentOS Stream is here to stay. However CentOS7 was the last CentOS in it's old form, from CentOS8 onward they have all been CentOS Stream.
