Linux not detecting Android Cell Phone

Hell All, looking for some help with Linux (Mint 20.2 “Uma” OS not detecting Android Moto E Cell Phone. Running a Lenova ThinkPad T520 with an Intel Core i7-2620M CPU @ 2.70 GHz, 16 mg RAM, Linux 5.4.0-74-generic Kernel, and a ATA Intel SSDSC2BW 180GB SSD Drive.


When I connect the Android Moto E into my 3.0 USB port it beeps once and when I check my PCManFM file manager it does not show the cell phone.

All help greatly appreciated.

I'm not currently using Android but if I remember correctly you have to enable MTP mode on in Android on your phone before it sees your device as storage device in GNU/Linux.

Just plugged an android phone into my M20 desktop via the usb3 , and it was recognised immediately as a storage device and when i turn on the phones mobile data and usb teather it works fine as well, it may need enabling on your laptop

reinstall kde connect, it should help in this not a simple matter, I'm now trying to connect an iPhone without Wine, it's also horrible

If KDE connect doesn't work try Air Droid.

i'm on Arch - these are the pkgs i had to install before my Android phone got recognized.

gvfs-mtp
android-file-transfer
android-udev
libmtp

you can look up equivalents

also when looking into my own issue i read on some OS you can use from command line:

mpt-detect
