hi all,

am very new to linux and currently working on CentOS.

need help on which books to refer to understand the workings of the OS (detailed understanding)

stuffs like boot process, inodes etc.

appreciate any kind of help.

I like Books, as well, but aside from that, I just like to mess about in the Terminal, and/or a straight-up SSH Session..... :3 But.... Whatever you do..... Do NOT, under ANY circumstance, type in "rm -f /"..... o_O There are some SADISTIC people on the Internet...... :(
 
Your best Linux learning environment is to do more activity in the terminal (or CLI or whatever it's called nowadays). Desktops are fine, but in a bind, the terminal is the lifesaver. Learn the basics first (creating, moving and deleting files / directories, permissions, network commands. There's a TON of websites that you can learn from). No excuse for not lacking the knowledge. :)
