What are your suggestions for personal Cloud storage? Cloud storage includes Manjaro and LibreOffice backups. Desktop app and Sync capabilities would be a bonus.

Several years ago I had Dropbox. It had a Linux client and would mount it at boot so it looked like any other drive/partition.

Dropbox is the answer however it is to costly. At 12.99 per month, add the exchange rate from Canada to USA it would cost me 12.99 x12 mos x 1.32 exchange = $205.76. I still need to access my backup and will consider carrying WD one TD portable drive. Cost for the drive is $72.

If there is a cloud storage website under $100 I would still consider it.

I think Google Drive gives 15 GB for free, if that's enough for your needs.

Google Drive could be the answer. I going to try Syncthing to sync my laptop & desktop. The laptop is Manjaro and Desktop is Linux Mint. Can anyone share their experience with Syncthing. I will try it for a few days and if cannot meet my needs I will try Goggle Drive.

G'day Les. If you are going to try something with Syncthing (which I have not used) that might jeopardise one or both of your Manjaro and Mint, I woud be inclined to take a full snapshot of each with Timeshift first.

Timeshift is already installed on your Mint, and can easily be installed on Manjaro as well. See my Thread at

https://www.linux.org/threads/timeshift-similar-solutions-safeguard-recover-your-linux.15241/

and ask any questions there.

My 2 cents on cloud - you might read up on Mega

https://mega.nz

They are New Zealand-based and before I get flamed, I should say that one of their principals a few years ago allegedly was in trouble with a US agency, but I have not had any problems with them.

I got 50 GB storage free, they still have that, subject to participation in some sort of achievements program.

Anyway just a thought.

Syncthing is now set up and works flawlessly with LinuxMint (desktop) and Manjaro (laptop). At last, I can now take my laptop to the where I am doing my research work usually the Archives and know what I enter into Gramps can be synced to my desktop or vice versa.

Yes, I use Timeshift on each device.
