Hi, guys. Do you know of any app for Linux (preferably a CLI app but GUI is OK too) that can tell me what program created an image? I tried the identify tool that is part of the imagemagick toolset to get the image metadata but it doesn't say what program was used for creating the image - Photoshop, GIMP or something else.

I think that for this to work, that info needs to be embedded in the file, i.e. the extension file itself, a tag ... I could be wrong though, I'm not an expert after all on this topic, but it seems logical to me.

I use a program called shotwell, I think it's available for most distro's.

How did you open these panels around the image? I just installed it but I can't find any menu called "Library" anywhere. It does have these functions at the bottom of the screen but nothing else.

Under the "File" menu, I use "import from folder" to create the library.

Under the "View" menu I select "Basic Information" and "Extended Information".

I use a closed-source, but free as in beer, application called XnViewMP.

It opens *everything*. I was so happy when it made it to Linux.

The info is under the properties section, by the way.
