Recently installed Linux 17.04, it shows that the wifi is connected yet it still wont connect to the network. What can I do to remedy this situation?

Linux 17.04? You mean Ubuntu 17.04? Well, for one 17.04 reached EOL in 2018 https://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2018/01/ubuntu-17-04-reaches-end-of-life-today/ this means it's not receiving security updates and the like, so why not try a more recent, supported LTS version instead https://ubuntu.com/download/desktop

Which Distro did you install 17.04 for Ubuntu is End of Life for a long time. Suggest you try downloading and installing a newer version. Ubuntu 20.04 or Mint 20.1 Give us some details on your machine and we could give you better advice on which distro may best suit your Hardware.
