I just tested with *.docx and it works importing as well as converting, can't reproduce your issue.
I exported it not in odf format when asked.

File -> Save AS
The overwrite existing file.

Not sure what you mean by "delete files".

Okay, I will try .docx

What I mean by deleting files is removing documents, sending them to Trash, cleaning up the space from unwanted files.

Also need to learn how to rename them.

For many things, Libre Writer has been pretty intuitive for me even though it has been 25 years since I used a word processor, and that was Microsoft Word.

I know I will love Calibre when I can use it, too.

Normally this isn't done in an application. It's done in your file manager. The same as in windows.

Okay. Yeah I am a bit rusty. I did delete one file in Dolphin, but wondered if that would 'mess things up.'

So, now I was able to import thanks to your .docx tip.

And, I converted to PDF in Calibre. Woo hoo!

Would you like to have the epub or PDF?

I don't like epub format because don't know if there is some good quality epub reader for Linux, anyone knows?
The default one in clibre is not good for my taste.

Nothing will mess up, as soon as you empty the trash, files are gone for good and inode on filesystem released.

I have not read all that has been said here.....but anytime I wish to open anything in calibre, I simply drag and drop the file into it.

Good epub reader: Bluefire Reader

Yeah. I can use Dolphin, just had some vague memory of causing problems that way many years ago.

What is the best way to learn Calibre?

Searched for Bluefire in the software manager, nothing found.
