I can't view the first offering, not available in Australia.

But I don't need to, it is burned into my memory.

I was still awake and saw it happen live at 14 minutes to 1AM Eastern Standard Time Australia. I went to bed flabbergasted and troubled and had an uneasy sleep, and then watched the footage all the next day.

One year and one day later, we had the Bali Bombing, which killed Australians (amongst others) because of our alliance with the US. Not as big, but devastating families nevertheless.

We need to remember that extremism and terrorism are to be loathed, and actively resisted, but that this is not an indictment against any religious Doctrine, per se.

I hope Members will abide by this.

I can't believe it's been 21 years. And I'll never forget that day either.

An employee and myself were working on a base, working on data that could not leave the building - though it really should have been classified FOUO. Either way, we had pretty much settled in when we heard a bunch of yelling. We thought nothing of it. (We weren't allowed any communication devices in the building.)

A second plane hit the tower, though we had no idea that any of this was going on. That's when they came and escorted us off the bass in a hurried and deliberate manner - complete with following our car to ensure we left the base.

We weren't allowed back on the base for many months, putting the project way behind and incurring penalties. Your tax dollars paid us extra money because their actions made the project very far behind schedule. We spent months living in a hotel 4 or 5 days a week 'cause nobody would tell us when we were allowed back on the base. We weren't even sure if they wanted us to finish the project, but we had hardware on-site that belonged to us and couldn't even get that.

They eventually let us back on base, but the security to enter was pretty high. It went from a wave and a flash of your badge to a 10 minute ordeal where they even brought out bomb sniffing dogs - for every vehicle.

I got out of bed and turned on the Radio and they said...3000 people had been killed in a terror attack in the USA and thought that can't be true but sadly it was.
