dear community

i am a using a older notebook - a thinkpad T420 - with 4 Gigs and currently ubuntu installed.

i am willing to swith th eos - endeavourOS - but i think it would be a good idea to use it with a tiny (small) DE

heard that lxqt should be nice and tiny.

btw: the guys just released a new version: cf. https://lxqt-project.org/release/2024/11/05/release-lxqt-2-1-0/

do you think this may fit - EndeavourOS with LxQT - and this combination on my old Thinkpad T420!?

btw: which DE do you use?

KDE, GNOME or possibly another; If the hardware is suitable and offers sufficient performance, then many people use..But this is no good for me - at least not on the Thinkpad T420

i had a quick tour to some overview-pages:

Xfce: A lightweight and resource-efficient desktop environment with a traditional desktop layout.

LXQt: Another lightweight option based on Qt that works well on systems with limited resources.

Cinnamon: A desktop environment based on GNOME but offering a more traditional layout and appearance, similar to older versions of GNOME 2.

which one would you recommend!?

look forward to hear from you

ps. i am an big big fan - of Thinkpad 420 - its so robust and i really like the keyboard.
