I have installed Pop Os 20.0.4 LTS in my Asus ROG G551-JK. After installation my laptop speaker is working quite well, but the internal mic does not seem to work. When I recorded using Audacity and arecord commands, all I hear is static and white noise. I have done the hdajackretask workaround, I have tried editing the alsa-base.conf file but none seems to work. I would really appreciate any help. I need the mic for online classes. And it does not also work with my headphone mic which is a single audio 3.5mm jack.

Plz help... I really need my microphone

G'day @kingsiddh and welcome to linux.org :)

Can you install a package, inxi, for us, and then give us the output of

Code:
inxi -Fxz
?

The command to install inxi is

Code:
sudo apt install inxi

Thanks

Hi!
I'm writing here because I think my problem might be related.

I just lost two online classes because my internal mic doesn't work.

(via Skype and via Zoom)
I received a notice that I need an upgrade and to go to audio settings.
But in audio settings nothing seems to be wrong, and I upgrade apps regularly.

What should I do?
My next class should be in a few hours.

G'day @sanjamax - I can see from your other Post that you might be using Pop OS, but you can see by your 13 hour wait, that we helpers are scattered all around the globe (I am in Australia) so you cannot expect immediate answers.

You would be better to start a Thread of your own and provide specs on your computer and the output of

inxi -Fxz

Start it in Linux Audio / Video, which is where I am moving this one for better attention. It will get lost in General.

@kingsiddh hold onto your hat, we're taking a ride to Linux Audio/Video
