Hi,

I am using a V5xTNC_TND_TNE motherboard based laptop running Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS, Linux 6.8.0-47-generic Kernel, Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 155H × 22, NVIDIA GeForce RTX™ 4050 Laptop GPU.

I am not able to manage the keyboard backlight and this is a big issue when I put the system in stand-by mode: the keyboard backlight won't turn off and the laptop battery will discharge soon.
I cannot even turn the keyboard backlight manually before putting the system in stand-by mode since there's no related key on the keyboard nor the current Ubuntu settings interface provides a related option anymore (it included one in the past, but not in the current version).

Definitely turning the keyboard backlight off from BIOS is not a good solution for me.

Any suggestion, please?
Thanks.
Regards.

Welcome to the forums
sorry, the crystal ball is in for cleaning, so I gather you have a brand spanking new laptop, this can cause problems with drivers for new parts, it usually takes 6-12 months for the boys and girls who back engineer drivers to make test and issue them
I will suggest you try MX-Linux with AHS

I believe X11 (if you're using X and not Wayland -- I know very little on Wayland) can access that using xset... provided you have the correct driver. Since you say Ubuntu "included it in the past" then you must have driver support (whether installed or not). Anyway, try open a terminal and see if this:
xset led off
works. Failing that, the output of lspci and lsusb would help.
Once we have a clearer picture, we can get to work if needed.
