I couldn't say what OS NASA were using off hand, but a quick online look says: Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).The old "scientific linux", which was used in some major scientific institutions, is now out of development, so there has been a change by some to AlmaLinux, which is an RHEL derivative, as scientific linux was. A bit of info here: https://www.theregister.com/2022/12/08/cern_fermilab_almalinux/KDE is a good DE. Wonder what Distro was bing used?
