Hey there, welcome to Linux.org!

I'm a big fan of Kali Linux, so decided to create a forum section for it here on Linux.org.. Kali Linux is built as a pentesting distribution - and it is assumed that you have decent enough Linux experience to be able to troubleshoot things like network connectivity or other basic issues that may arise.

Too often, we're seeing posts from people in here that don't have that basic Linux experience.

If you don't have a good background with Linux troubleshooting already, Kali is NOT for you - expect to be met with questions like "why did you choose Kali", "what's your main distro", etc..

Kali Linux is meant to be a toolkit to use for security work. While various networking is disabled by default, It is NOT meant to be a 'more secure' daily-driver distribution that you use for all of your computing needs.

Please start out with something like Ubuntu or Fedora and learn to do basic networking, troubleshooting, etc.. before jumping into something like Kali.

IMO, the best way to use Kali Linux is to install it on a USB flash drive and run off that, unless you have enough money to throw it on a nice netbook/laptop to use when you're doing your security work.

FYI: All/most tools that come with Kali are able to be installed on most distributions easily enough... for instance, give katoolin3 a try if you're using a Debian based (Ubuntu, Mint, etc..) system.

Should I use Kali Linux?
