Is there any program to check swap filesystem?

edit: If you suspect the disk itself is the problem and you can't live without swapspace on that disk, use a swapfile on an ext4 partition. But again, anything you have in the machine itself will most likely be faster even if it's on the system disk.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this to you but 2GB of Ram wouldn't blow out a candle these days.

I'm running Avidemux at the moment and on this Forum so using 2.2GB of Ram but not a problem as I have 16GB of Ram installed...more Ram = less problems.
Linux Mint and other Distros now come with a 2GB swap file because it's a simple matter to add more Ram...unless you have a 32bit system. The bare minimum these days is 4GB with 8GB or more being the norm.

To check Swappiness run this...

cat /proc/sys/vm/swappiness

On my SSD it's set to 10...default is 60.
