Will this install on Linux Mint 22 ?... Pluses ?......any downside ?.......

I found this when i checked:

« This is pre-release software. Bad things may happen if you use it in production. »

...and that was a 5G6 download, so i'll pass waiting for the stable release. But thanks anyway!

Where did you read that? This is the official release, I'm still have Gnome 47 beta op my Fedora Silverblue 41 beta installation. It runs fine, I haven't notice a difference in how it runs compared to 46.

Not download it, yet.
Rolling distribution have it in their repos, it will take a bit before static release distributions have it available in their repos or they might even not put it in until their next release.

I was too curious to wait so i tried to get Vanilla OS 2 (stable) of August 24, but the transfer got interrupted hence i opted for openSUSE Tumbleweed GNOME Live of September 17 instead, only to be reminded i didn't like that desktop system, yet i'm still pleased to now have its Rescue CD version available on my YUMi-exFAT USB drive as it's feeling like home with my usual type of desktop...

I got 1 ~30 GB partition left for yet 1 more Linux to evaluate, hoping someday the tiny 15 " display will auto-magically cause its desktop to adjust... Any suggestions?

I honestly don't like that kind of desktop, i appreciate mate so much better.
This topic isn't meant to be a discussion about which desktop you like and which one you don't. Just about the release of a new version of those interested in the new release. Discussions about which desktop environment is better or which one you like better are mostly better to be avoided because they can spiral down most of the time in a negative way because everyone is mostly trying to convince someone else that their desktop environment or window manager is better than the other person's and why they shouldn't use what they are using anymore.

@Egzoset start a new thread and I will give you a suggestion.

I didn't feel that my comment was in any way a judgement directed against people who like the Fedora-esque GNOME desktop, or even a value statement about which one is better. I don't tell people how to use their computers, and me stating my preference in response to a relevant thread doesn't necessarily doom a thread to hostile internet banter. If someone came along and went on a nasty tirade against people who use GNOME, is that my fault or responsibility? It's important to know where to draw the line IMO.

You are missing the point. I didn't create the topic for people for people to start replying I don't like Gnome, but I like X or Y. If I had wanted that I would have created a topic with a title something like "I like Gnome for my desktop because it does X better than desktopY, I would have phrased the title in a discussion like title. This was just a pure release topic and for people that are actually interested in the release.

Okay, sorry i used your thread a different purpose than you wanted. Goodbye

I like that they added pops of color, it looks very finished for a certain style or theme of the desktop.

I would like to apologize. I over reacted at the time of replying to you. So my apologies to you, it's a free world with free speech so you can reply on any topic however you like. Even when I'm being an idiot about it or in a bad mood. Thanks for taking an interest in the topic!
