Hello,

My internal mic worked up to 2 weeks ago and then it stopped working completely.
I have tested the mic under Windows 10 and it works.

I am using linux mint 19.1

See below some info I have gathered.

Screenshot from alsamixer:

I can see that the mic is off but I have not managed to turn it on. The arrows of the keyboard do not work under the mic tab.

G'day Pin, Welcome to Linux.org

What has happened in the past two weeks for this to happen ?

what has changed/updated/been added/ etc etc

Do you have Timeshift set up?

Good morning Condobloke

I am not aware of any change that caused the problem.

I tried to use a backup with Timeshift but it did not work.

Thank you

If you have Timeshift snapshots.....does ONE of them predate when the problem started?

Unfortunately I only have one timeshift snapshot and is the one that did no work

SO you clicked on Timeshift, and then entered your password.

This will have bought up a 'window' showing your snapshot

You would then have single clicked on that snapshot which will have highlighted it.

Then you will click on RESTORE in the top of that window.

Did you make any changes after doing that or just click next and OK etc

(where is the snapshot stored?....on the same drive as your OS or do you have an external hard drive)

The snapshot is stored on an external hd.

I just clicked next and OK etc.

I followed the procedure but the problem is still there.
