Hi, I just tried KDE inside a VM and I really love it. could it break my system, if I manually install KDE alongside Cinnamon on LMDE6? and if yes, can I revert from it using timeshift and how would I do so? I've never used timeshift before and want to be on the save side. I am a bit short on space, so i could not easily backup the entire disk.

- thanks

Read some more re Timeshift.

Timeshift only restores system files.....it does not 'backup' whole disks

If your space is that tight, it may be time to buy a bigger drive. From what I can see KDE takes up approx 360MB....which will be in addition to what LMDE6 already uses

KDE is a Desktop, usually plasma and a set of applications.......which you already have on LMDE6

How an application of that type performs, I have no idea.

Perhaps @kc1di could shed a little light on that

I would discourage installing KDE with Cinnamon, there are a lot of redundancies and conflicts between the too systems.
If you want KDE I would suggest installing debian or other KDE centric distro, Mint dropped KDE support several releases ago.
Though it can be done, I would not recommend it.
