I'm back after a month & libglib2.0 causes issues again...

This is the second time I wasn't able to sleep off an update since it aborted due to THE SAME dependency issue.

sudo dpkg --configure -a

was needed, but why doesn't it do... something automatically since it is required for an update to be performed?

G'day @BigBadBeef , I'll make a suggestion or two, as a workaround.

A Google search under

linux is libglib2.0 essential

led me to

where a user was having what appears to be a similar problem.

One of the suggestions provided there was a link to

and that appears to have worked for the user.

The one that I have used successfully on a number of occasions is listed there, beginning with

sudo apt-mark hold [packagename]

When I do that, I make a separate note to myself that the package is held, so that if anything related to it screws up later, I can go back and unhold it.

Like I said I fixed it and it updated successfully, but its the second time I had to reconfigure the entire dpkg. Something keeps breaking that specific dependency and I don't know what it is!
