Hello all
I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS in a 64-bit version. After hours and hours of reading and going through many forums, I'm still confused about running 32-bit applications.

What I figured out is, that my Ubuntu is multi architecture enabled:

dpkg --print-foreign-architectures gives me: i386.

However, if I want to run some 32 bit applications, I don't know which package of 32-libs I really need? ia32-libs-multiarch or ia32-libs or even ia32-lib-i386 ?

Can somebody please explain me the difference?

Thank you very much for clarification.

That sounds reasonable, but I would like to understand the difference.

I believe that ia32-libs-multiarch is just the replacement for ia32-libs....it includes that package and all the other ia32-libs* packages. You could think of it as a package group.

Hi ryanvade. It makes sense, what you are saying.
Thanks for your help.
I will go for ia32-libs-multiarch.
