I suddenly have no sound. Please help

I am using Linus Mint ( not sure what version). I use the computer basically as a CD player so the sound was working great. One day I go to play some music and there was no sound ( I was using Banshee) , no sound from You Tube either.

As far as I can tell nothing is mute and headphones also don't play sound.

I'm not good at computers so how do I fix this?

aplay -l

sudo lsmod | grep -i snd

Did you recently do an update?

Sometimes when something like this happens I type Alsamixer and make sure no channels are muted.
