Hi,

It seems that I face ACPI issues and I wonder if the real reason behind CPU turning my brand-new laptop PC into a frypan (almost literally) to the point that the top 2~3 rows of keyboard keys are also becoming painful when just touching (Not pressing) them for about 1 second only...

As part of the situation [Googled] Chromium does Not like much when the screensaver starts its job...
There are also isues with using the Linux Mint's display settings to change the "Monitor Scale" to 125% or 150%.
It feels like those ACPI issues may be linked to (Intel CPU built-in) GPU-related support.

Well, I would like to check with Linux.org community hardware experts what options I could try to resolve this problem (?)

Thanks for reading my post.

Best regards,
"HP"

some Technical data: (to get started with... ;))
  • Machine: LG Gram 16Z90Q (i5-1240P version) ;
  • UEFI settings untouched / manufacturer's default => Secure Boot remained active for a week / before problems started to appear ;
  • OS: Linux Mint 21.0 / "Vanessa" Cinnamon 64-bit ;
  • sudo fwupdmgr gets-upgrades did Not help to solve the problem when I have been prompted to do it by the system dumping ACP error messages like the following, every 1~2 second(s):
    Code:
    [   15.278232] ACPI Error: No handler for Region [XIN1] (000000006e0cdae4) [UserDefinedRegion] (20210730/evregion-130)

Other bits of the story:
I just acquired a brand-new LG Gram 16Z90Q (i5-1240P version), less tahn 10 days ago and I replaced MS-Windows 11 Home edition right after very first boot of the machine by Linux Mint 21.0 ("Vanessa").

Well, the hardware seemed to be very well supported despite being relatively recent, But, the machine is over-heating like a frying pan and I also got lot of probelems crashing latest version of [Googled] Chromium (which became more than a pain to run on certain older Linux Mint machines since around May 2022, at very least...)
When prompted to go through [ALT+CTRL+F1] + login + cinnamon-unlock-desktop + [ALT+CTRL+F7] to regain acces to the GUI, I had to force close Chromium and problems kep repeating.

P.S.
I forgot to mention something I found odd: "System Monitor" never shown any CPU core being 100% busy.

So, this makes me thinking more and more about an over-busy GPU, But, for what reason / hidden purpose (crypto-currency mining to benefit someone else ?) ?

Note:
Personally, I do Not take oart into this madness that just burns dwn way too much precious resources for purely wasted electrical energy due to the totally debil "rat race" to the "*coin" that only a unique single racer will earn while everyone else will have had burnt at least same amount of energy into pure wastage...
