HP Pavilion g series keyboard mapping to Linux OS

are you talking about making shortcut keys? if so you have to tell us what distro this is otherwise you will have to fish around the settings.

Thank you for your kind attention.................I had noticed that my quote marks (above no '2'), and the '@' symbol (left of 'CR' & '#' keys) , were swapped! I therefore looked at the keyboard mapping, and found that (virtually) only the qwerty keys were correctly mapped. It was all mapped to English, but a version of English (US) instead of English (UK). It took a bit of doing, but eventually I found the correct language version and country for my HP Pavilion g series keyboard ( an English (UK) version) , and changed it appropriately. It now appears to me to be fine.
p.s. It was not the short-cut keys - I saw a tutorial about how to program these....
Many thanks once again, and apologies for taking up you precious time.
