HP Elitebook x360 1040 g6 mouse pointer tracks and brightness error.

Recently installed Ubunru Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS on my laptop. The mouse pointer leaves traces on the desktop GNOME Shell 3.36.9. Problem starts when the system boots on the password entry screen (characters are also entered with a delay) There is no error in the applications. The brightness of the screen also changes spontaneously. It's uncomfortable to work. I am a new Ubuntu user.

Can you help me?

Settings -> Universal Access and disable the zoom function - and see if that helps the mouse trails

As far as your brightness goes check your BIOS Settings to see if you have an Adaptive Brightness control or not and adjust accordingly

Zoom function disabled early, im not find Adaptive Brightness in Bios setup.

for the brightness try

sudo gedit /etc/default/grub

you should see something like this screenshot

Add what is highlighted in orange - after you are done save the file and run

sudo update-grub

reboot
if it does not work you can always change it back

Have you tried upgrading the kernel?

You could consider the xcalib and xrandr programs which can adjust brightness and gamma in some cases.
