I read a thread called "Advice on Linux that suits my needs for Macbook Pro". I had a similar situation but I couldn't find a solution to my situation from the thread. I am a student and I took my laptop to school everyday but the battery can only survive until the end of my lectures and then I have to go home for recharging my laptop. This is very annoying. I can't stay at school and do some self studies.
I am going to buy a new laptop. I wanted to buy a MacBook Air because I don't need the Retina display(I think the Retina Display is needed only if I were a designer). MacBook air is fancy but there are too many unwanted stuffs running at the background. I am wondering that whether there are anyone installed linux on their MacBook Air? Does the performance(speed, battery life ) really improved?
