how can we optimize linux for one particular application

Hi, I am new here, but I have an interesting question. Is there any way to optimize linux operating system for only one application.

Lets suppose I have a single board computer and I want only music player to run it. How do you do that...
In this case, booting should be lightening fast.

I know this is pretty hard to do..

I just need overview about how it could be done.

Please do not hijack someone else's thread by sticking your post on the end. This thread is entitled
"how can we optimize linux for one particular application". Your post has nothing to do with that. You should have started your own, new thread.

You should be able to Boot from USB 3.0. Look at e.g.

Well, a music player is not an operating system... so it is not possible to have ONLY a music player boot your single board computer. What it seems you want is a minimal operating system, and then install only the apps you want or need, whether music player or something else. I would suggest the Arch Linux operating system since it is very minimal, and they make an ARM version for single board computers.
