So the Toshiba Satellite C650D is currently running Windows 10 22H2 Home it feels super slow and sluggish, even with all of the animations and effects turned off, even transparency still super slow and sluggish that is to be excepted running Winblows 10 on an super old Computer that can't handle Modern Windows.

So I tried Zorin OS 16 it went horribly couldn't even get it to the Desktop the first thing I did was plugged in the USB once it got to the installer I thought it would be nice to use the Try Option and oh boy it went to a black screen with white text as soon as I tried to do that, I had to reboot the computer I tried a 2nd time I tried Safe Graphics this time and oh boy was it even more horrible of an experience compared to the last one it had in white text no Readon Graphics Modules than it went to the Toshiba Boot Screen and looked glitched I had to power it down.

I really don't want to stay on Windows 10 and don't tell me to buy parts for the computers cause I have ZERO MONEY.

So are there any there any Modern Linux Distros that I could run on the crappy Laptop from almost nearly 15 YEARS AGO!

Hardware:
• Processor: AMD Vision Dual Core CPU
• Graphics Processor (GPU): ATI Radeon HD
• Ram: 4 GB
• Screen Size: 15.6 inches
• Screen Resolution: 1366 x 768 (HD)

I really just want to run Linux on here not something like Arch but something Ubuntu-Based please make good suggestions and give really helpful answers I'm under alot of stress about this. I really wanted to run something with a GNOME Desktop Environment that runs version 46 or later because it has Remote Desktop Sessions built-in to it so I or any of my friends could remote into that Laptop if needed but I don't mind going with another Linux Distro with a different DE just as long as it doesn't flip out about the integrated AMD Readon GPU that's inside like Zorin OS 16 did, anywho with that wrapped up I really wish I could get something done before the weekend. At first I did want to use Linux Mint on it but it has no built-in thing like Distros that use Gnome that lets you set up a remote session so for Linux Mint if there is anything that I can use on it that will let my friend's Windows RDP Desktop Connection tool that is built-in to Windows connect to the Linux PC without
:?:
using 3rd party tools on the Windows side that would be great I'm trying to get them into Linux and ditch Windows. I'm trying to also ease my friends into Linux.

Welcome to the forums, this was an entry level machine built for Win 7,
now My 2008 lappy has just died [a couple of weeks back motherboard failed] it had an intel CPU [not quite as good as your AMD K10 [Athlon family]] and 4 GB Ram,
I have run many different 64 bit Linux on it over the years, the only expensive upgrade was to swap out the plate spinner HDD for a SSD.
I do not recommend but these are just some of the distributions that should work that I have run on my old laptop [my preferred order ]
Mint LMDE
Parrot Home
MX
Debian with driver pack
ubuntu
Linux lite
Mint 21 [now mint 22]

this machine comes with an Atheros Wi-Fi, provided you are connected to the web when you are installing then the drivers for this should self install from most Debian based distributions, provided you say yes when asked if you wish to install non-free drivers

Hi and thanks yeah it ran Windows 7 before I cannot control the person who had it before and they upgraded it to the crappy Windows 10. Yeah so mine has an AMD E-350 should I put an SSD in there I don't have the money for that right now. Damn RIP may that computer Rest in Peace.

So these Linux Distros you listed would they work on my Laptop I really don't want no problems from the Laptop.

So do I need to plug an ethernet while installing these Linux Distros or do they come pre-bundled when I check the box for the 3rd party drivers are they local in the iso or do I need to be online for that?

Something to think about for the future
would they work on my Laptop I really don't want no problems
I dont see why not, the only problem i can think of would be the wi-fi

do I need to plug an ethernet while installing these
It would be recommended
do they come pre-bundled
many are pre bundled, but a lot are not, [think how many different components have been made and updated in the last 30 years you would need a huge ISO to have them all in]
Damn RIP may that computer Rest in Peace.

it may be ageing, but it's not dead yet.

Three years ago, I invested two days setting up linux as a virtual machine on a windows laptop. The best thing about that world is it created no obligation continue operating in that polliuted world. Brickwizard seems to have more complete perspective, but I wrote a finding stating that Microsoft uses all the power at its disposal to make running any linux on a windows machine produces 14 moments of agony for every perception of apparent, usually false , sign of success running linux on a windows box.A laptop where windows has been 100% eradicated mighjt be ok.

The first warning of this road being dominated by agony involved alleged distros of linux to run on a windows machnie, labeled "this is real linux" (translated: This is a more realistic impersonation of linux thatn the even worse distro from MicrosoftMicrosoft) was just saying that so people woild not dump them so quiicluy

Welcome aboard the above list from Brickwizard is pretty good recommendations. Peppermint is another option as well. It is Debian/Devuan based but I believe ti could be an option as well. https://peppermintos.com/

Sorry but SATA II/USB 2.0 are severe limitations, though i'd try the RAMDisk boot option of a puppy like 'S15Pup64-22.12-240810.iso' or even 'PupFoss96-CE_2.iso' (and similar) perhaps.
