Hello,

I am very new to programming but I am conducting research that is based in Linux, so I need some quick basic help. I do not know anything about programming basically, so the advice I need is very explicit as to "what" exactly to type "where". I am using terminal on Mac.

I have shell scripts and Matlab scripts that I want to run on a Linux computing cluster / Matlab. How do I open a shell script (let's call it thisismyscript) in terminal to be able to work with it? (I honestly don't even know if I'm asking the right question, so any advice is appreciated). Or how do I work with files in Matlab if they are in a Linux directory-how do I transfer them? General advice on commands to work with files between Linux, computing clusters, and Matlab would be very helpful.

If you want to personal message me, I can send more detailed information which might be more helpful.

Thank you so much for your help!
