Help installing linux

While all the different app suggestions are great, they don't get to the root of the problem, which is a write error. As Vrai and I suggest, it could be an issue with your pen drive. Try writing some other files there. Try formatting the drive. Try copying a few files to it. All this can be done in Windows. At this point I don't believe it's an app issue.

if you had access i would say try gparted but your not. So maybe search for software that can format usb sticks . This is old but might be worth a try https://download.cnet.com/HP-USB-Disk-Storage-Format-Tool/3000-2094_4-10974082.html

Now as for ways of getting a distro onto a usb stick i want to throw eg Linuxx dd command , etcher, rufus I want to throw in another : http://ventoy.net/en/index.html

basically once ventoy formats your usb stick; when you mount the stick it looks on the surface like any other; but actually its split into 2 partitions. IN the space you see when you mount it you can drop and drag iso files. I've been playing with Linux version. I have a 14 gig usb stick and have 3 iso's slackware-dvd-install knoppix and slackware live. When opting to boot from stick i get a splash screen with the choice to boot from any of the 3. All three of the iso i can choose from and they all work !
