I have an old and slow HP computer, so I thought I install Linux Mint on it since it is a lightweight os. The problem is that I cant get it to work.

What I did was download Linux Mint Iso-file and put it on a usb drive using the software etcher. But the old HP refuses to boot from the usb.

So I need you help. I´d like to remove windows and install Linux (any lighweight distro) and I need to do it in a non-complicated manner, since I'm new to Linux.

Please help.

Haben you choose the usb-drive to boot in the boot menu or the bios?

Thanks for your reply!

I had more luck with lubuntu. I managed to boot the computer using usb with lubuntu. Then I installed ubuntu on the hard drive, but when I try to boot from hard drive I get the message:

Non-system disk or disk error
replace and strike any key when ready

What can I do?

try..
The Non-System Disk Error or Disk Error message might appear when the computer BIOS cannot find a bootable operating system on any of the storage devices included in the notebook computer's boot path. ... You can change the order of the search by changing the Boot order in the system BIOS.
