A very warm welcome, @Xzoma :)

I have become very fond of the Arch-based Distros myself, running about 12 of them.

Enjoy your Linux.

G'day Xzoma...Welcome.

I know about as much about arch as it knows about me.....zero

However...I am quite in love with Linux generally. Linux Mint in particular rocks my boat.

I am Australian, living in south east asia (ftm)...back to Oz soon.

Make that "we" have belonged to - Brian and I met (cyber) 4 years ago last October (I got banned, can't think why, must be my deodorant). Also got 3 - 4 others here from the same origin, all of whom I count as friends.

Add humour and friendship to all of the above, and a heaped spoonful of a shared enjoyment of Linux.

Stir thoroughly, and then serve.

Serves millions.

How difficult is the transition from Ubuntu/Debian based distros to Arch based distros? I sometimes use the command line to update or install programs, as it's faster than using the software center.

What is a good source to learn pacman commands or is it not necessary with easy Arch based distros like Manjaro?

G'day @lekkerlinux and welcome to linux.org :)

Start a Thread in General LInux if you want more Specifics - https://www.linux.org/forums/general-linux.143/ or maybe in Arch might be better https://www.linux.org/forums/arch-and-derivatives.161/

... so that we don't "hijack" @Xzoma 's welcome

But briefly - Arch have "Pacman Rosetta" - https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pacman/Rosetta

... which I find good as I move around the Families.

...is it not necessary with easy Arch based distros like Manjaro?

Anything in Rosetta applies to Manjaro as well. In many Linux, you can accomplish things just with the GUI (windows-like point and click), but command line experience is very helpful, and can be more versatile.

Thank you very much Wizardfromoz, I had something like that but only much shorter version of Pacman Rosetta. I will study it.

My brother is also down under, but his not a wizard he works for the Queensland Federal government or something.

Thanks for the help, I will click my heals when I need you again.

Hello Xzoma,

Welcome to Linux.org.

I met Condobloke and Wizard on that other cyber place and I'm surprised I haven't been banned.
Linux.org is a fun forum and an excellent place to learn and offer assistance where you can.

I use Ubuntu 18.04 and LMDE 3 (Cindy) and Peppermint 9 on old discarded desktops.
I also use Antix 17.4.1 and BionicPup64 Puppy Linux as Sports Car Linux Distros as they run fast as hell.

I tried Arch Linux and I found out how much I didn't know about Linux as it ain't user friendly imo.

Yep I prefer it over the standard Linux Mint editions because it's Debian and for the most remains the same from its final release to EOL except for security updates.

I tried to get LMDE 2 (Betsy) to install but never could for whatever reason it kept getting errors and wouldn't ever install so I gave up.

When LMDE 3 (Cindy) was released as a final I downloaded and installed it and it works OOTB on the same desktop that LMDE 2 (Betsy) wouldn't install on.

I like it. :)
