Hi all, I am relatively new to this linux Ubuntu thing, however am very impressed with it. Here is my problem. When I strem and plug my laptop into my tv via Hdmi my mouse goes mad and all I get on the tv is the purple home screen. So I am forced to use windows 10 to stream. I HATE microsoft so it burns me to have to use it. I have installed Ubuntu alongside win10 but would love to remove any sign of microsoft if possible. Would really appreciate any advice or help. Please excuse my ignorance in advance. Garth

Hello @Garth , and welcome.
This sounds as drivers issues. If I am not mistaken there is a tab in Ubuntu "Additional drivers", something like that. Click on it and search for drivers for your machine.
Alternative you can make a google search with your machine model and Ubuntu version for drivers.

Click on 'Menu'.......and then type in drivers

btw...Welcome !!!....to linux .org

G'day @Garth from another Aussie and welcome to linux.org :)

I am looking to move this to Audio/Video where you may get specialised assistance on your HDMI, rather than trailing off down Getting Started with Brian's dog Belle nipping at your heels.

Which version of Ubuntu, I likely have it, but I am not an HDMI expert?

Cheers

OK Mate, thanks.

I'll move this to Audio/Video and if I can help with anything I will.

Good luck :)

Wizard

BTW people viewing this thread will be notified of the move.

Have you tried the suggestions at post#2 and post#5 ?

I am not at all sure this will work, but it can do no harm
