Link, for those that don't know it exists:

I've downloaded it a couple of times, but never even bothered trying it in a VM. I plan on making time to do so this weekend, or at least trying to fit it in.

Anything I should be aware of, before tinkering? Any gotchas that are likely to pop up?

Alright, I've got the script downloaded and I'm gonna try it with Debian this weekend.

Not my Cup of tea.
But let us know how it goes with bedrock.
Sure its not a Flinstone OS. :D:D

LOL It allows you to take bits of different systems and make them work together. I've never tried it, but I've been meaning to do so for quite a while.

That is why I said it ain't my cup of tea. But that's a me, were I a lot younger and without the interests I had when I was younger I more than likely have given it a burl just for curiosity's sake and to learn something I didn't know before.

In my case, it'll all be done in a virtual machine and simply with the reason being intellectual curiosity. It has interested me since I first saw it, however long ago. I've just never made the time. Every now and again, I'll think about it or see a reference to it and it reminds me that I should at least see what it's all about.

Testing out in a VM just in case is definitely a good idea, as is trying it with Debian as that's one of the distros it supports best: https://bedrocklinux.org/0.7/distro-compatibility.html

The main catch is ensuring you're familiar with the basics before exploring it, as otherwise one can easily go down the wrong path and become confused. After installing it, be sure to either run
Code:
brl tutorial basics

for an interactive tutorial that covers the basics, or read through the basic usage documentation: https://bedrocklinux.org/0.7/basic-usage.html

The interactive tutorial seems to help things stick better for people, but if for whatever reason you'd rather read a static page it more or less covers the same content. That's usually enough to set someone down the right road.

The introductory documentation is purposefully incomplete to get you going without bogging you down. If you find it didn't cover something you're curious about, there's also other documentation for the current release: https://bedrocklinux.org/0.7/index.html

as well as release-generic information: https://bedrocklinux.org/introduction.html https://bedrocklinux.org/faq.html

If you still have questions after that, I'm deeply familiar with the project and happy to help.

Nice and thanks! I may well have questions, though I do know I need to start with the tutorial basics. I've had an eye on it for a long time, but I've just never used it. I've tested most major distros and a ton of more minor distros. They've got some great features. Mashing them together seems like a good idea. I also expect it'll be really informative, like when I went through the LFS documentation and building.
