So turning it off using the application doesn't turn off the GUFW System Firewall?GUFW is just a graphical application for controlling your firewall. You don't need to have it running at all times.
Once you have started/enabled the firewall in gufw, the firewall will continue running regardless of whether or not gufw is running.
You will only need to fire up gufw again if you want to:
1. Disable the firewall
2. Add additional firewall rules (e.g. to blo certain traffic)
3. Remove existing firewall rules (e.g. to unblock certain traffic)
