I just had to install visual studio 2019 on a system. Wow talk about inefficient. I download a 4MB file for VS2019, I run it and it downloads an installer program. I run that and it then goes and downloads what I wanted to install.

Why do I have to 2 steps like that. I download something that downloads something that then downloads something else. Seems better in the old days when you just downloaded the file you needed and installed it. no extra steps.

Way to make things better M$

Rant complete

I'll tell you why...

I had problem with MS Edge resetting settings including privacy settings, that annoyed me so much I contacted MS privacy team and told them they violated their privacy policy and I've also quoted parts of PP outlining what they violated.

It took them almost a week to assemble a response, and after several back and forth messages I've given up wasting my time.

Their argument boiled down to that they do what's necessary for first time users and their experience, that is, out of the box experience to make new users more familiar with the features by enabling them by default.

So what you experienced with the installer is making your experience better because you're supposed to be total noob who doesn't know how installers are supposed to behave.

And if you have complaints it doesn't matter because you're not first time user.

thanks, now I get it. M$ thinks I am stupid. I can't download a file from the internet. Instead I have to download a file from the internet and run it to download another file from the internet that then downloads another one because I would never have been able to download a file from the internet. That makes good sense......

I think we need a new grass root movement. We need to apply it to technology, computers and even more so to government. We will call it K.I.S.S. and you all know what it means.... Lets make computers, technology and government, simple.

Let's KISS them all

and here I am just trying to download it once so I can install it in another place. What was I thinking? I just have to stop being efficient. Wonder what happens if you want to install on a non networked computer? or one that has no internet access? but I guess that just doesn't exist any longer right?

VS is a well made program, I give that to Microsoft but all their products have a monopolistic attitude, ''if you don't like it there's nothing else anyway''
