Hello everybody,

I'm using Ubuntu 24.04 and I installed GIMP as a snap package using the App Center. Afterwards I tried to install GMIC:
1. I went to https://gmic.eu/download.html and downloaded the Linux zip archive for Ubuntu 24.04 Noble.
2. I extracted the content of the zip file.
3. I copied the gmic_gimp_qt folder into the plugin folder of GIMP (which in my case is /home/lafenice/snap/gimp/436/.config/GIMP/2.10/plug-ins) (I also tried to access the other plugin folder but it doesn't exist: /usr/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins).

So I opened an image file using GIMP, but GMIC is not displayed among the filters. I don't understand, did I do something wrong?

Thanks :)

Ubuntu 24.04...... Again, a 'challenge'

Last Dec. 2023 there was a problem with Gimp and the gmic filters while running the Ubuntu distribution at that time.

When I was running Linux Mint I didn't have any problems or issues with any of the filters, plugin's or addition tools that Gimp needed.

Today I run Gimp on Devuan Daedalus 5.0, Debian 12 Mate and Slackware 15.0 and the program runs and works as it should.

Remember, Snapcrafters is a group of volunteers who maintain snap packages for third-party software. They work with upstream developers but they (Snapcrafters) are not developers themselves.

Hi all, similarly with what I did with MediaInfo, I uninstalled the snap package of GIMP and ran the following command in Terminal:
sudo apt install gimp
The app is now working properly, and GMIC is functional.
Personal note: I'm starting to think these snap packages are a complete failure.

Thanks everybody for your help :)
