Am looking for a bit of guidance to get started. I am running an HP laptop, running an Intel i5=1035G1 CPU @ 1.00GHz 1.20 GHz
12.0 Fb (11.7 usable) 64-bit x-64 based processor

1. Will my machine run any Linux OS?
2. If so, which one is best?

It should be able to run a Linux distribution. You can test most Linux distributions before installing them as when you first boot up said OS, it would show up in the form of a live environment (think of it as testing the operating system before installing it on your hdd or ssd). If all goes well, there shouldn't be any problems.

There is nothing as the best Linux distribution, as most can get the job done, with some slight variations on how this can be achieved.

You can try some of them out to see what is the best for you. For newcomers, Ubuntu or Linux Mint Cinnamon are usually recommended.

If you have any problems feel free to contact me.
