Get Rid of a Menu Item

I was playing around in Debian and I put the MAIN_MENU link on top of the desktop. How do I get rid of it?
I'll provide a snapshot of what I'm talking about. It's right next to PLACES in the upper left corner.

Ok. Either I was lucky or my laptop is a Ouija board....
I hit the alt button and right clicked on the oppressive menu item I created and it had a REMOVE FROM PANEL option. Clicked on that, and bingo! That did the trick
