Is there any way to create a disc or usb full backup of one's computer for Mint 22?
For example, your hard drive fails, you buy a new one, restore from your backup and are back to a snapshot of how you were at the time of backup?
Mint 22 comes with 2 options to back up - Backup Tool and Timeshift - neither of these show any obvious indication I can use them to save a full backup externally
I've hunted around a bit and people have mentioned various options in forums - but there's usually further discussion that says, to sum up:
I saw some mention in discussions of just saving the home folder which may or may not be useful, but a few things are unclear to me

- It (various solutions suggested) doesn't actually save everything
- It's complicated and you could screw up your system if you don't know what you are doing

- my home folder is encrypted, not sure if this would present any complications, but when I try copying it over, I get a message that there's a file I am not authorized to copy. No option to enter admin password - happens when I am logged in as admin.
- does everything really come over when copying home?
- hidden files need to be selected? I'm a bit worried about what that word "selected" means. If I right-click copy on the home folder, am I not selecting everything within it including hidden files? If not, how specific do I need to get to make it work? (if it were as simple as selecting the home folder, why would they say you have to select hidden files...)
