Front Headphones issue on mint 18.2 - Cinnamon

Hi there, fresh install of linux mint 18.2 - Cinnamon and when I plug in my headphones to the jack on the front panel of my desktop ... no love. If I leave them plugged in and reboot it works just fine until I unplug them and plug them back in.

I've checked the obvious things like mute on, which it isn't.

Not really sure what information I can post that would be of help diagnosing the issue so please let me know if there's any I can provide that would make this a bit easier to help with.

I saw your post and haven't had time to swing by before now, regrets. Not sure if I can help or not, but I run Sonya Cinnamon amongst others, so that may help?

Are the headphones generic-style or a name brand? And have you used them before with Linux, if so which?

You could print at Terminal, the output of

Code:
inxi -Fxs

and paste it here, that might be a good start?

I have a friend in mind whom is a member here, and I could draw his attention to this Topic, too.

Hi Tubby - have you checked your settings on the SOUND tab in the menu under "All Applications"?

Hi Mate, I was remiss in not thanking you for that inxi -Fxs output ... nice rig :D

What I think is particularly good to know is the line from audio which features in part:

Normally I am cautious of referring Users to old articles in case "times have changed" and they are obsolete. This one starts a little over 5 years ago, but towards the bottom features input from 2016, so to my eye it appears current, and you may find a solution there that works for you.

Be aware of substituting your own model for that, of say, a Dell, for some of the instructions.

That being said, I will bow out and watch from the sidelines, with interest.
