If I want to, how can I upgrade to 19.04 from 18.04 & skip 18.10 using the software updater?

Okay

Btw, does the #2 in 18.04.2 stand for "Support Year 2"?

Those are called "point releases." With Ubuntu, they seem to issue one point release the same year as a new LTS version, and then two more point releases each in subsequent years. You can track their past releases here:

You are right atanere my mistake. I removed my post. ;)

I had a brain fart I'm old. :p:D

Thanks ;)

They released 18.04.2 this year, so they'll release 18.04.3 next year, 18.04.4 in 2021, 18.04.5 in 2022?

No, you didn't follow what I was saying and/or you didn't look at the link. All (recent) LTS versions come out in April (the ".04" part of the version). Their past practice has been ONE point release the same year as LTS release, so 18.04.1 came out last year. Their past practice shows TWO point releases in following years, for two years after the release. So 18.04.2 just came out, and there "should be" one more yet this year... that will be 18.04.3. Next year, 2020, will provide 18.04.4 and 18.04.5, if they continue with their past practice.

There is no guarantee they will always follow this cadence... it's just easy to observe from the link I provided. Beyond two years from the release (after the 5th point release), it becomes uncertain. Version 14.04 followed the pattern for the two years after release (2015 and 2016) but then had no point releases in 2017 or 2018... though they did issue a point release in 2019.

There's no way to predict whether they will release another point release (#7) for 16.04 this year, as they have never continued to go that far before. Maybe they will, maybe they won't.

Okay. two point releases throughout it's Life Support span if they continue that way.

18.04.2 & .3 this year

18.04.4 & .5 in 2020

18.04.6 & .7 in 2021

18.04.8 & .9 in 2022

18.04.10 & .11 in 2023

If they continue in that direction.

Yes, but that is a BIG IF. And I doubt they really go that far.

Okay
