FreetuxTV doesn't work.

I have Manjaro 15.09 Xfce and I installed FreetuxTV. When I open it says, Synchronizing list of channels and about a minute later it closes. I have VLC player which is required to operate FreetuxTV. It did the same thing when I used openSUSE 13.2 when I had it. How do I get FreetuxTV to work?

Maybe this link explains the trouble you're having?

If you think this might be the problem, you can download older versions of VLC but you may have to compile it from source. This link looks like all of the VLC past releases:

Good luck!
I think that's the problem because they came up with the same answer on https://www.linuxquestions.org. Looks like it's more trouble than it's worth and I will just un-install it because I don't want outdated software on my computer. The way I see it, who ever created FreetuxTV didn't check their work and falls under the category of Gargbage-ware. Thanks.

Yes, you may be right. Or maybe FreetuxTV just stopped development, while VLC continued. I just watched a YouTube video of FreetuxTV working nicely, but it was an old video. Thanks for the "Best Answer" report!

Cheers!

Your welcome.

I installed FreeTuxTV (April 2019) and while it seemed to work fine, almost every link was non-functional. I found only 1 webcam view of a marina that worked, and a few radio stations, but absolutely "NO VIDEO" would work at all.

I am uninstalling this app.
It's not fit for LINUX use, and its apps like these that make "selling" LINUX to others as a new choice for their primary OS a really hard job to accomplish. If things don't work, there's no point to them being FREE.

Hello, a bit old discuss, works perfectly depending on your internet provider example for France: Alice, Bouygues, Free, Orange, SFR.
The other thing is you must add a rule on your firewall or disable it.
Hope that will help,
I'm on Mate and other ubuntu's flavors are fine too.
Best regards
