Firefox, Server not found, www added and it works, how to denied it

I use the newest firefox version (both tried : Snap and repository)
Ubuntu 22.04.04

If I call this address :

/tele5.de/mediathek/star-trek-das-naechste-jahrhundert/videos

I have to remove https... , that the problem will be clear

often I will get the answer, server not available. If I try it again, same result.
But if I add "www" to the "short" address, I will get an answer and the respective web-page.
After call, "www" will be removed by firefox.

I have searched in the settings. nothing found to fit the problem. Any idea ?

what you are looking for is in setting on firefox.. under privacy and security look for https only mode. you want to select "don't enable" that way it takes the address the way you put it in instead of guessing for you. I had same issue.

www is part of the domain, so you can't omit it.

Not all websites use www, but those which do require www to be accessed.
 
The whole problem is / at the beginning.
www does not matter as it is standard. If one needs to add www to get webpage, then there is something wrong with FF config. I never had to enter web address with www.
On the other hand / means that this is a middle of the address.

@Gloster ....open firefox, and open settings

Then, on the left hand side click on Privacy and Security

Scroll down almost the bottom of that page, and you will see....

....That is the setting APTI speaks of.
 
To be clear, if you call /tele5.de/mediathek/star-trek-das-naechste-jahrhundert/videos ...you are relying on the browser to guess what you mean....do you mean this is a web address?.....do you mean it is a file name ?....do you mean something else entirely?

You have created the problem by doing that.

If the address is entered in its proper state....either with https or www at the front of it, then the browser does not need to guess

The majority of browsers react in this was....firefox, chrome etc etc

This is not correct: neither prefix ir required. One is informing user that it connects with tcp 443, other is just leftover from the old days.
Again, OP error is not with https or http. In fact I entered his address as is but without / and it worked automatically making encrypted connection.
SO if OP enters:

These will connect exactly the same encrypted way because when browser is negotiating connevtion type, secure connection by default is offered first.
However
/tele5.de/mediathek/star-trek-das-naechste-jahrhundert/videos
will not work as this suggest partial address.

settings set as described by you.
No further indication : "Server not found"
Thank you and @APTI, I hope, it will fit the issue.

If no further indications, after one week, solved will be indicated by me.
 
Unfortunately, yesterday I had two times "Server not found".

E.g.:...ttps://www.google.com/ (I did remove "h" that the Address string can be read immediately by the forum user)

Tried again same Tab (blue Button), did not work, closed the Tab, a new Tab tried, immediately I had the connection.

The problem itself since approximately 1 month I have.

I did check my DSL connection (speed, ping), no issue.
 
I use Firefox on Mint LMDE, and cannot recall any problems, my Firefox is set to HTTPS only.
So taking @Gloster 's link to the German Star Trek the next generation site, I ran it without any prefix and got the server not found,
I then ran it with HTTPS// HTTP// www,/ and http//www. and all connected first time
 
If we can't reproduce the problem, then we can't make a diagnosis.
