finding programs

as a complete beginner where do i find a programme that i have downloaded as they just seem to disappear i am using zorin 15 many thanks dave c

G'day Dave and welcome.
I take it that they are not showing up in the Download Folder of your home directory?
I use Mint so not that up on Zorin but since there is some commonality between distros that is where I would look. But Maybe @Condobloke or @wizardfromoz would have a better idea.

you can search for any programs in the search bar within you main menu.
Or on commandline type
whereis firefox
(replace firefox with name of your program) and this command will show you the file path and where the files with that name are on the computer. hope this helps
