Hi! Im running ubuntu.
The issue i am having is that when i insert my external drive it doesnt show on my files but when i open the disks application yes.
But, i want to format it but keeping getting this error i dont know how to fix it...
Anyone? Thanks!

This may sound strange - but have you tried rebooting?

Ubuntu (and probably others) can be flaky when you've worked with a disk and then want to format it. I dunno why, but the solution is to reboot the computer itself and then try again.

I'm not saying that's what is wrong this time (I don't know). I'm saying that it's worth trying.

I tried that an cannot fix it.
Also im getting this when i try to mount it because it is not.

sudo mount /dev/sdb /home/frank/TOSHIBA
mount: /home/frank/TOSHIBA: can't read superblock on /dev/sdb.

frank@frank-K54C:~$ sudo fdisk /dev/sdb

Welcome to fdisk (util-linux 2.37.2).
Changes will remain in memory only, until you decide to write them.
Be careful before using the write command.

fdisk: cannot open /dev/sdb: Input/output error

Waiting for this maybe works???

can't read superblock on /dev/sdb.

I'm about to hit the sack but that's not good. I'd have to double check, but that's usually a sign of failed hardware.
