error: file "/boot/grub/i386-pc/normal.mod' not found.

This begs the question :

What were you doing before that?

Is this related to your Thread here?

#1) I had just finished applying a TS restore which included the home folder to a freshly installed 20 Mint Mate. After finishing, there was a message which said (paraphrasing) there were errors and there was the possibility that it may not either boot or function properly...WALA...nadda....black screen with the aforementioned info and a blinking _

#2) no, this is another project.

Sounds like a reinstall might be in order.

I would second a reinstall suggested by Wiz in post #6.

If you've been thrown into the grub rescue shell with the message:

/boot/grub/i386-pc/normal.mod' not found

it means grub can't find it's own configuration file. You could try as a first measure to reinstall grub from a grub rescue disk or live disk. If that didn't work to produce a boot up, that problem, plus the errors reported by the TS restore, suggest that the disarray in the installation are complex. Hence reinstalling to get a clean system would be easier and provide a more reliable system to work with.
