Hello everyone. I just downloaded and installed linux on my pc after i heard how great it was. I used the official elementary os website which i found on linux.org. however after installing it i got the error that reads I can't update my OS because the source files might be corrupted and some other reasons underneath it. Everything else updates just fine from the app Store. How do i fix this? Will i have to reinstall the os again? Are there any commands that can help me? Please help.

(After i start updating from the store it starts for a second then immediately takes me back to the update button)

Also i have only 1 pc so if reinstalling is the only option can i use my current boot drive that i used to install this current version of elementary (which might have corrupt source files or some other stuff)

I don't know how to do that. I just downloaded it from the official website
Go to the official site where you downloaded Elementary OS.

Somewhere on that page that you downloaded Elementary there should be a md5sum or shasum for you to check.

I just downloaded it from the official website

This site now seems to employ a "buy the distro, you name the price" policy.

https://elementary.io/

Where the download button is, there is a link saying

Recommended System Specifications

Click that and you will be taken to a page which includes

Verify your Download

Follow the instructions

Welcome to linux.org
