I have been operating a dual boot set up (Windows 10,Ubuntu 24.04) on my HP desktop for several months without any issues. However, this morning, when I came to boot my desktop, it automatically went to Windows, without showing a Boot Menu.

I tried to solve the issue by going into BIOS, Boot Menu and but I no longer see a Ubuntu option. I also made sure Windows FastStartup is turned off. I have legacy support enabled and secure boot disabled. Additionally, I checked my Windows update history and there were no updates ran in the last week.

Is there any way I can get Ubuntu back ?

I can no longer see the Ubuntu partition in my Disk Management...

this is usually caused by a Windows update! Try from the terminal sudo update-grub,

What is your machine [make and model number]

ok so on an HP the short boot menu is Jiggle F9 whilst switching on the machine, this should bring up the UEFI short boot menu, Ubuntu should show as Ubuntu, or it may show as Debian, select to highlight and enter

Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately, Ubuntu is no longer an option like it used to be before.

DISCLAIMER: I never had to do this, so I can't speak from my own experience.

You should be able to recover it by preparing an Ubuntu Live USB media and installing GRUB on the drive where your partitions are. If you're using SATA disks, then it would be something like /dev/sda, /dev/sdb,... and if your're using NVME disks then it would be something like /dev/nvme0, /dev/nvme1,...

You can get an idea of the process in articles like this one:

Sounds like you may have Inadvertently wiped something, the next move would be a rescue disc

I was able to find a solution on the Ubuntu discourse website. Thank you everyone for your help.

going forward you should check the link I posted. Redo the system so this is not possible to ever happen again. M$ will keep finding ways to mess you up.
