Which download should I get to start my Linux world? I am wanting to use an old computer
that has Windows 7 loaded and I haven't used for a few years. At this time not looking for
anything fancy, just an OS that will make this desk top useful once again.

Any input will be appreciated.

As already mentioned by arochester computer specs would be a good start as to the direction of a good Linux distro.

Possibly something like Antix then? https://antixlinux.com/download/

Many distros are dropping support for 32bit, but not all.

If you can, and it is economical, try to increase your amount of RAM.

Is this computer a laptop by chance and if so I may have 2.0GB of DDR2 memory that can be yours for the cost of shipping.

Please post the exact model number so I can see exactly what type of memory it uses.

This memory needs a home as it is just laying around not being used.

This is actually your Hard Drive Disk (HDD) capacity - you have 50 GB of space on the drive.

Everyone you have "met" here so far is of an age that is two digits starting with a 6, I think, so you are in good company

When we get those specs (specifications) we can get a better idea to suggest a Linux Distro (distribution), and let us know if the rig has a DVD writer, and any USB ports.

This guide is useless so I need to get a serial number and try to see if I can obtain exact specs.

To Run Linux TXT Mode you just require 512 MB of RAM and At least 10-15 GB Storage capacity
To Run Linux Graphic Mode you need less than 1 Gb of RAM and At least 20-30 GB Storage capacity
This is not the minimum hardware requirement but your OS will run smoothly...
